COVID-19 STATEMENT: GLOBAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM (GSP)
As the world continues to deal with the global outbreak of COVID-19, we firstly seek to express solidarity with the health workers and scientists who are at the forefront of coordinating a global response to this unprecedented pandemic.
We recognize that the weeks and months ahead present high levels of uncertainty for all, and we will thus like to communicate our plan for the Global Scholars Program (GSP) and other summer activities at our campus in Johannesburg. At every ALA program, our primary commitment is the health, wellness and safety of all participants – and we will not run a program if we feel we cannot meet our high standards in this regard.
We are very excited about the many families from all over the world who have registered their children to participate at our programs this summer, and we look forward to hosting them. It is our utmost hope that the world will return to normal soon and that it will be safe enough to host GSP. We know that students who have been out of school and at home for many weeks will welcome the opportunity to live on the ALA campus and engage with peers from across the world.
If conditions do not return to a state that is conducive for health and safety, we will not proceed with our programs this summer. In that event, we will defer all registrations completed to summer 2021. If there are any students who, for any reason, will be unable to participate at GSP next year, we will offer a full refund to those families.
We hope that you are keeping safe at this difficult time, and we thank you for your commitment to our mission of developing transformative leaders for the world.
